Supply Chain Blues: Big Lots Posts Lower Sales in 2Q

Big Lots (Columbus, OH) on Friday reported lower year-over-year sales for its second quarter as the retailer’s CEO attributed the results to supply chain and freight issues, The Wall Street Journal reports. Sales declined to $1.46 billion, down from $1.64 billion in 2020’s fiscal second quarter. Comparable sales declined by 13 percent, a stark contrast from the 31 percent comp-sales gain that Big Lots posted in last year’s second quarter during the earlier stages of the pandemic.
