General Pants plots trans-Tasman expansion

Fashion label General Pants is set to expand to 65 stores across Australia and New Zealand as part of its growth strategy to focus on Gen Z and millennial consumers. General Plants said it will accelerate its store opening plan together with store refurbishments in Queensland, WA and Victoria in the next few months. In the past 12 months, the brand has opened eight new outlets, three of which are located in New Zealand.

Wutopia Lab's latest bookstore in Shanghai borrows from traditional Chinese garden design

Bookshelves made from perforated aluminium and quartz stone double as partition walls in this maze-like Shanghai bookstore by local architecture studio Wutopia Lab. The 452-square-metre bookstore, which opened last month, is located at the base of a recently completed brick-red office block called Cifi Xintiandi (which translates as "The Roof") by Ateliers Jean Nouvel.

Swarovski launches Australia’s first ‘Instant Wonder’ store at Bondi

Chinese discount store Miniso is growing by one new store a day

Chinese discount chain Miniso accelerated its expansion plan during the pandemic, opening 364 stores around the world during the past 12 months. The expansion has increased Miniso’s store number to 4587 in China and 94 in overseas markets. The brand recorded the strongest performance in its home market, with physical store and online e-commerce revenue surging 69 per cent and 86 per cent respectively during the third quarter of fiscal year 2021, which ended on March 31.
