Virgil Abloh, artistic director at LVMH, Louis Vuitton and Off White, has passed away. Abloh trained as an architect and engineer in his early life, and transitioned to designing clothes in 2012. In 2013, he founded Off White, and became the Men’s Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton in 2018.

Checkerboard walls wrap Awake NY store by Rafael de Cárdenas

De Cárdenas worked with Angelo Baque, the former brand director of streetwear brand Supreme , on the design of a retail location for Awake NY , which Baque founded in 2012. Plywood is also used to form storage and display cases There are also several large sculptural pieces placed on the shop floor, helping to create a flow for shoppers.

The store building had been boarded up and was almost at a point beyond repair, but it has now been fully restored to feature a more ornately-shaped roof that emulates the form those seen on traditional Dutch townhouses.
