Australians return to the malls despite a plunge in consumer confidence

Australians are returning to shopping malls as Covid fears subside with Scentre Group reporting customer visitations up 12 per cent on 2021 levels during the first quarter. In an operational update filed with the ASZ, Scentre Group CEO Peter Allen said the mall operator saw “a significant increase in sales for our business partners, above pre-pandemic levels”.

ESW to Acquire Complementary Ecommerce Platform Scalefast

ESW , the world’s leading global direct-to-consumer (DTC) ecommerce company, announced today that it has agreed to acquire Scalefast, a Los Angeles–based, end-to-end ecommerce solution provider. Subject to customary approvals, the transaction is expected to close by mid-year 2022. The company also announced that Scalefast founders, CEO Nicolas Stehle, CTO Frédéric Bocquet, and CMO Olivier Schott, will join the ESW senior leadership team.

Perron Group sells half stake in Adelaide’s Colonnades Shopping Centre

Nikos Property Group has bought Perron Group’s 50-per-cent interest in the Colonnades Shopping Centre in Adelaide for $138.2 million. The other half of the regional shopping centre is owned by Vicinity Centres which currently manages 86,554 sqm of the hub. . The 14.3-hectare complex is located 26 km south of Adelaide CBD. It is home to Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Big W, Kmart and Dan Murphy’s along with speciality retailers. .

Actually, if you are not familiar with this area, it is only a small parade of stores although of course they are all luxury brands. You wont find any mid-range or value retailers here. This brand looks fabulous at the moment. They can be a little hit and miss with their visual merchandising but this installation looks amazing (although some very skinny mannequins).

Volumes up for parcel locker specialist InPost

Parcel locker network group InPost has reported volumes up in its key markets of UK, Poland and France. Total Q1 volumes grey by 68% YoY and 18% on a like-for-like markets basis (excluding Mondial Relay), off a challenging Q1 2021 base impacted by Covid-19, and outperforming expectations in many markets. Volumes in Poland were up by 16%, outperforming the estimated 15% growth for the market while in France, company volumes grew 8%, in contrast to the market’s estimated 16% volume decline.
