The Milan office of David Chipperfield Architects has designed a minimalist boutique for fashion brand Akris in Washington DC , featuring pleated walls and displays suspended from thin wires. Located downtown, a few blocks from the White House, the boutique is lined with white-painted maple panels arranged to look like fabric pleats.

Green onyx lines the floors and walls of this fashion boutique in Rome by creative duo Giada Forte and Robert Vattilana. The Forte Forte store is located on Via Borgognona, a street in the heart of the Campo Marzio – the 4th rione, or district, of Rome – that was once full of artists. Cookers, storage and washing stations have become jewellery display cases The store draws on the concept of a dark kitchen, a fast food outlet that provides food for deliveries and takeaways but doesn't have a dedicated area for in-house dining.

The amount of garments on display is minimal, with single dresses suspended delicately from various squiggly formations of gold wire. Back-lit, circular openings throw light on the boutique, which, according to the designer, also take cues from an existing artist. The changing rooms were placed in a rounded gold booth.
