Launched in 2013, the Hive Active Heating thermostat and app system allowed customers to control heating and hot water in their homes via the company’s website or app. Instead of a screen, the second phase is minimal and features an LED display that only lights up when the user touches the controls. Each one is bordered by bright-white LED strip lights. Panels of fluted glass form a screen around the edge of the store. The urban materiality of the store is interrupted by a couple of ceramic display stands, which Linehouse formed by wrapping convex tiles around steel poles that extend from the floor to the ceiling.
