Another interesting feature of the redesign is the incorporation of Oryx switchable smart glass on the glass roof, allowing adjustable control of natural light.

Standard Architecture collaborated with the Paul Smith design team to reimagine the 4,740-square-foot (440 square metres) store on Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood. Long brass rails are used to present tailoring Partitions clad in dappled beige stone frame these zones, but don't reach the exposed timber ceiling, to retain the sense of openness.

Motion detection cameras on the south-west and south-east facades of the building are the installation’s “eyes” – during the day the light-up installation “observes and mirrors” pedestrian activity, but at night, it closes its eyes and “dreams”, using bespoke generative algorithms.

Traditional office layouts are inadequate for the frequent video calls prevalent in hybrid work modes, necessitating private spaces with good lighting, acoustics, and ergonomics to avoid disruptions. Workers can then take calls in a space tailored specifically for that purpose.
