The Milan office of David Chipperfield Architects has designed a minimalist boutique for fashion brand Akris in Washington DC , featuring pleated walls and displays suspended from thin wires. The boutique debuts a new design concept for the brand's retail spaces. Lighting is hidden with the shelving displays.

Located on Broadwick Street in London's Soho, the two-storey boutique is the brand's second outpost and first international flagship, designed in collaboration with London-based West Architecture. Spanning two floors, the 1103sqm retail space features distinct areas dedicated to specific product categories. The store also features collaborations with talented Australian artists, with ground-level installations by paper engineer Benja Harney and artist Bianca Beers, and abstract sculptures and paintings by Elliott Routledge.

Architecture practice Snøhetta stuck to natural materials for the fit-out of the Holzweiler boutique in Copenhagen , incorporating subtle references to the fashion brand's Norwegian heritage. Its undulating outer walls are fitted with display shelves and coated in a smooth layer of clay , while the inside has a rough, craggy surface.

The street is lined with high-end boutiques including a Jil Sander store with an interior designed by John Pawson , and an OMA-designed store for Coach featuring herringbone-patterned glass facades.
