Southern Co-op is using its membership card scheme to raise money for local food banks.

Every time a member shops and scans their card in a store the Co-op has said it will give 10p to its local food bank.

This will simultaneously encourage use of the membership card and raise money for a good local cause.

Holly Bramble, community lead at Southern Co-op, said: “Food banks provide vital support for our local communities so we really hope this campaign will make a difference to a lot of families.

“All the money raised will be split equally between more than 60 local community food banks we work with.

“Quite simply, the more members who shop and scan their Southern Co-op membership card, the more we can donate to our food bank partners.”

The group has more than 200 stores across the south of England.
