Shoppers using the Jisp shopping and payment app are spending an average £48 per basket, a 500% increase compared with the industry average, says wholesaler Bestway.

The numbers come as Bestway Wholesale continues to roll out the app across its retail estate.

Jisp has been working with Bestway since November 2020 to help its symbol retailers provide home delivery, click-and-collect and scan-and-go services.

Julian Fisher, chief executive and founder of Jisp, said: “Our app on average delivers an increase on basket spend of more than 400%, and an increase of more than 500% on items per basket.

“Considering we are only a few months into our full rollout with Bestway, the numbers are already exceeding our expectations.”

The trial began in January 2021 and both companies have been working with retailers across the group to integrate the new services and closely monitor success rates, with full rollout taking place a month later.

Barry Thomas, owner of BJ Thomas News in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, and one of the early adopters of the technology through Bestway, said: “We are seeing an increase in sales of 500% compared with my usual basket spend of £9.65.

“With the support of Bestway and Jisp, I have been able to launch campaigns and promote my new services and now I can really see it paying off as orders are increasingly coming through.”
