The Premier-branded convenience store and post office had been operated by the previous owner, David and Debbie Walters, since 1993.

David Walters said: “We ran the shop for almost 30 years and now hope to get a better work-life balance and enjoy our children and grandchildren. We wish the new owners every success and hope with a new younger, fresh approach, the community and owners will all benefit.”

The business, which was sold free of symbol-group ties, benefits from steady local and passing trade throughout the year. Ananthakumar is an existing operator with another store less than 15 miles away. She said: “We are overwhelmed and wishing David and Debbie a very happy retirement. We are planning to improve the shop in the near future and look forward to serving the local community.”

Jamie Williams, senior business agent in Christie & Co’s retail team, added: “Ashvale Stores is a fantastic business which generated over 15 viewings and more than 10 offers, indicating that the market remains strong for convenience stores and post offices. There is a large pool of active buyers seeking new opportunities such as this and a lack of available businesses.”
