The retailer has taken on the new 800 sq foot store on Station Lane, Old Whittington, partnering with Parfetts on the venture to bring the first dedicated off-licence to the area.

Kumaresan has undertaken significant renovations since acquiring the property earlier this year, including The Local branding, extensive fridge units, appealing displays, and a customer-friendly store layout and checkout area.

The store offers an impressive beer, wines and spirits selection offering choice wines from independent suppliers and an extensive range of premium beers and spirits with regular promotions and offers planned.

Commenting on the new store, Kumaresan said: “This is a great space in an ideal location, so I wanted to make the most of it, providing a service where customers can take their time and browse the comprehensive range of beers, wines and spirits on offer. I’m delighted with the look and feel of the store, and early impressions have been very positive.

“Parfetts represents great choice and value for money, and the team understands the challenges faced by retailers. Combining this with great promotions and strong professional team support, I chose to partner with Parfetts and The Local. I like to run in-store promotions, which Parfetts fully supports to help boost my sales.

Parfetts launched The Local fascia to sit alongside its fast-growing Go Local symbol group. The Local is a new off-licence fascia focused on improving retailers’ margins.

Steve Moore, head of retail at Parfetts, said: “Sharma is an ambitious, talented retailer who is keen to make an impact with his new venture. We’ve put simplicity at the heart of The Local. It’s built around the needs of our retailers with great value, regular promotions, and a simple rebate structure.”
