The second Spar, also supplied by C J Lang, is in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire and owned by independent retailer Jigneshkumar Chauhan.

Previously under the Day Today fascia, the store has a range of services including ATM, lottery, Paypoint and a wide range of food-to-go.

Murray said: “We are very happy to welcome Jigneshkumar and his team to Spar. Since joining us in February, they have been passionate about offering the local people of Airdrie a fantastic convenience store.

“Jigneshkumar is new to Spar and it is his first store with us but already he is looking to see how he can develop his business further.

“We look forward to watching his business grow.”
