McVitie’s adds sweet and savoury flavour to Club biscuit range

McVitie’s is adding a new flavour to its Club biscuit range for the first time in 10 years.

Club Salted Caramel will join the existing mint and orange variants.

It started to become available at the end of January and is being rolled out more widely across wholesale and convenience over the next three months.

The chocolate-covered biscuit comes in packs of seven or eight individually wrapped bars and has a recommended retail price of £1 to £1.70.

David Titman, marketing director for McVitie’s, said chocolate biscuit bars have increased sales by 11.5% in the past two years, according to Nielsen figures.

He added: “For longstanding fans of McVitie’s Club, we know this launch will cause a stir.

“In fact, a series of online discussion groups have already shown a spontaneous desire for innovation from the brand.

“Plus, wider research shows more than half of snackers (53%) are prompted to purchase when they see new flavours in-store, so this addition is sure to ramp up excitement and interest around the brand.

“We’re confident the launch of this popular new flavour will encourage impulse purchases and, ultimately, drive higher sales growth for retailers.”
