Retail NI has distributed posters to its 2000 members and is also asking customers to treat shop staff respectfully.

Retail NI chief executive Glyn Roberts said: “With rising cases and Omicron now being detected here, we all have a responsibility to follow the guidance when shopping, such as wearing a face cover, sanitising your hands and socially distance if possible.

“We also want to remind consumers to be kind and courteous to shop staff this Christmas and beyond the holiday season.

“Retail staff are working very hard in challenging circumstances to ensure we all can do our Christmas shopping in a safe and enjoyable way”

“In our new guidance, we have also strongly encouraged people to get vaccinated and boosters (when eligible).”
