The pollster YouGov reported today (3rd September) that more than half of Britons say they have experienced food shortages in their local shop or supermarket in recent weeks.

In a survey of 3,564 adults, 56% said they had experienced a shortage, 39% said they had not, while 5% did not know.

The shortages were most noticed in Scotland (67%), the South of England (57%) and the Midlands/Wales (55%). Londoners were the least likely to have reported encountering shortages at 46%.

Delivery problems have been reported all over the UK in the last month, mainly blamed on the shortage of HGV drivers available to carry out deliveries.
