Rapid delivery firm Getir buys rival Gorillas

The aggressively expanding Getir, a pioneer of ultra-fast grocery delivery, has acquired Berlin based on-demand delivery company Gorillas.

The move underscores Getir’s growth ambitions and follows its acquisition of rival Weezy last year and its tie-up with Just Eat last month.

Getir was founded in 2015 and operates in nine countries across three continents.

Its model is to delivery groceries in minutes.

Nazim Salur, Getir’s founder, said: “Markets go up and down, but consumers love our service and convenience is here to stay.

“The super-fast grocery delivery industry will steadily grow for many years to come and Getir will lead this category it created seven years ago.”
