An independent store in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, has changed hands after 67 years to become the latest outlet owned by Nisa partner Eros Retail.

Neish Supermarket (Nisa Local) on Clerkhill Road had been owned and operated by the Neish and Anderson families since opening in 1954.

It has now been bought by Eros Retail, which will trade the store under the Greens banner, alongside its Greens of Ellon outlet, also in Aberdeenshire.

Over the coming weeks, the store will gradually transition from Nisa Local to the independent Greens of Peterhead fascia, with extended opening hours and what the new owners say will be a “significantly enhanced in-store offering and experience”.

Improvements will include an expanded butchery section, overseen by the master butcher from Greens of Ellon.

The new-look store will also introduce hot and cold drinks, including Costa Express coffee, Skwishee frozen drinks and F’real milkshakes.

Harris Aslam, director at Eros Retail, said: “We are honoured to be acquiring a store with such a strong legacy and hope to preserve the high standard of loyalty the community has experienced since 1954.”

Further upgrades to the store will include the introduction of various energy efficiency measures.
