Posters will be displayed in One Stop stores where vacancies are being offered, before the role is advertised to a wider audience, and interested applicants simply scan the QR code via their smartphones. This will then take them to a careers page online where they can then start the process of applying. Applicants can also pop into store and chat to the store manager for further details.

Rhiannon Mawdsley, lead people partner at One Stop, said: “The scheme is fantastic for everyone as it helps locals looking for employment, it’s great for stores as they get to recruit individuals who know the areas well and are close, plus it’s perfect for customers as they are greeted by a friendly face they know, when they come into store.

“There will still be opportunities for people outside a store’s immediate area, however, we’re keen to do our bit for the communities we serve. The reception we’ve received so far for the scheme has been really encouraging and we’re looking forward to welcoming new colleagues to our stores, up and down the UK.”
