Independent Retailer of the Year is split into four categories – one for stores up to 1,200sq ft, one for stores between 1,200sq ft and 3,000sq ft, one for stores between 3,000sq ft and 6,000sq ft, and one for stores over 6,000sq ft.

The judges will be led by independent consultant John Heagney again and will do virtual store visits and videos of shortlisted stores.

His team this year will comprise Nigel Gray, formerly of Nisa, convenience expert Mike Igoe, and Guy Ousey from the IGD industry think-tank.

In addition, Association of Convenience Stores, Cirkle, Hanover, IGD, IRI, Mintel, and Nielsen have confirmed that they will be sending representatives to help judge the other categories.

Judging will take place in June and July.

The Retail Industry Awards closes for entries on 31 May 2021. For information about the categories and how to enter click here.
