More than 60 products have been nominated across nine categories, ranging from confectionery and grocery products to alcohol and vaping.

They may be the products that have performed the best in your store over the past 12 months, those that have been the most popular with consumers, or simply those products you judge to be the most innovative.

The list includes several new breakfast launches, alcohol and soft drinks innovations, plus on-trend flavours in confectionery and sweet and savoury snacking, from brands such as Absolut, Quaker Oats, Cadbury, Pringles and many more.

Éilis Cronin, content editor at Independent Retail News, said: “New product launches have always been a key draw for the independent convenience sector, and that importance has continued even in this most challenging of years.

“Strict lockdown measures forced many people to stay indoors, work from home if they could, and restricted their visits to on-trade and hospitality outlets such as pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants.

“Leading brands and suppliers have bolstered their portfolios with products to suit these changing shopper habits and trends, such as an increased demand for larger pack formats for at-home entertaining, a continued focus on healthy eating, a demand for more innovative flavours and a desire for more essential store-cupboard items for the week ahead.”

To be eligible for the awards, products must have been launched between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021 and have been widely available to the independent trade.

You can vote for your favourites via the Retail Industry Awards website or by filling out the voting form on page 40 of the July issue of Independent Retail News.

Once the votes have been counted, we will reveal the winners and present the trophies at this year’s Retail Industry Awards, which this year will return to being an in-person event held at The Brewery in the City of London on 21 September.
