This year’s Outstanding Achievement Award goes to Steve Fox, who has been at the forefront of retailing for more than 30 years.

He started his career with Safeway as a store manager, before eventually moving to operations director, where he looked after more than 100 shops across the south of England.

In August 2002, he joined Booker as head of Premier, which under his leadership grew from 500 stores to become the UK’s number one symbol group, with more than 3,100 members.

He became sales director for retail at Booker before finally moving on in September 2019 to the Motor Fuel Group, where he now works as managing director for retail.

During his career, this person has earned huge respect from retailers, who will tell stories of how he was always more than happy to roll up his sleeves and help get a store ready for opening.

Putting him forward for this award, one industry colleague said: “He always has time for everyone at all levels and has earned the respect of many, many retailers and suppliers over the years.

“He has also been a person who doesn’t shout about his own achievements – so therefore this award would be a great opportunity for his hard work and dedication to the retail trade to finally be officially recognised.”
