Brisbane’s central food and retail hub Post Office Square is set to undergo a massive redevelopment to enhance visitor experience.

The building is positioned in the most densely concentrated trade area for the city’s office workers with 122,000 workers within a four-minute radius.

Designed by Arkhefield, the square’s new look will aim to bring a “sense of the outdoors” through biophilic design and earthy finishings to seamlessly blend in with the green space above along with a diverse range of dining and service options planned.

Simon Juniper of global investment manager, LaSalle, said the redevelopment aims to build on the existing strong outdoor connection to provide workers and visitors an offering that has been “lacking for some time”.

“We will be expanding the internal spaces and providing a wide variety of offerings to cater for the city workers and visitors, from morning to night.”

Taylor Macri of JLL’s retail leasing team said major works will “elevate” the centre and encourage an extension in the trading hour.

“The centre will continue trading throughout the refurbishment works and new tenants will open progressively until the project is complete.”

Tenancy submissions are open with limited tenancy opportunities remaining due to strong local and interstate interest. The first stage of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
