We have a brand new video for our viewers. The #CreativeVoices is a video campaign that highlights industry leaders from design, architecture, landscape, developers, fit-out, suppliers, and retailers who are making a difference in the pitch.

Afsal Mohamed, Founder and Director of Light & Lives and Anna De Florian, Founder of Ultra Arte talk about their latest installation at Downtown Design. “Light Gazing” is a creative collaboration between Light & Lives and Ultra Arte. With the intent to reflect on the flexible relationship between design and nature, the sculpture prompts the visitor to observe the play of sunlight against artificial illumination on the same element.

Colourful boldness is the absolute protagonist protagonist; the transparency of the material allows for hues to mix, overlap and create colored shadows on the contiguous surfaces. The installation is modular and interacts with the entrance path to Downtown Design, allowing for different approaches and vantage points. While sunlight lights up the materials during t the day, the installation features inbuilt illumination to be used in the evening hours – setting stage to a completely different experience for the visitor.

Beyond its artistic significance, “Light Gazing” embodies a profound commitment to sustainability. The choice of sustainable recycled acrylic underscores Light & Lives’ dedication to eco-conscious practices. Additionally, the carbon footprint of the installation has been meticulously calculated, therewith actively contributing to environmental initiatives to mitigate this impact. This dedication creates a positive ripple effect, not only within the local community but on a global scale, demonstrating the power of conscious design in making a difference.
