Ikea Australia has launched a gift registry service to make gift giving and receiving easier for customers.

On the Ikea Family account, customers need to create a ‘Gift Registry’ with their desired products and share this list with their family and friends to browse, choose and complete purchases online or at an Ikea store near them.

Giovanni Rutigliano, country digital manager for Ikea Australia, said the retailer wanted to provide an innovative solution to meet changing customer behaviour.

“We know our customers want to shop faster and more efficiently in-store and online. The Gift Registry and the in-store App Checkout will make shopping simpler and more exciting.”

Likewise, the in-store App Checkout is a self-service feature now available across all 10 Ikea stores in the country following a successful trial in Queensland.

Customers can now scan products directly on their phones as they walk through the store and pay using a QR code at a dedicated mobile checkout on the way out without needing to unpack contents.

The Ikea App Checkout can be activated on the Ikea app or by scanning a QR code in-store.

Last month, the retailer launched a new Sustainable Living Shop initiative to help consumers live more sustainably while potentially saving money on household expenses.
