Heymat Zen – A new concept of customisable rug tiles fit for every space

Heymat Zen is a system of carpet tiles produced from 100% recycled PET designed to make every room a pleasure to come home to.

Heymat Zen is a new interpretation of Kristine Five Melvær’s award-winning design, where the pattern has been transformed into three tiles that can be combined in an infinite number of ways. This way, each person can create their own unique pattern, in sizes tailored to their wishes and the space available.

“The idea of offering products also for the professional market came about when we started receiving more and more inquiries from architects and interior designers asking for Heymat rugs in larger formats”, says Sonja Djønne, CEO of Heymat.

The carpet tiles are specially designed for public spaces, as their size and shape make it easy to customize them for use in entrance areas and offices, for example. Heymat Zen is also suitable in private homes where durable solutions are needed.

Sustainable and durable production

The idea for Heymat was born in a convergence between design and functionality, experience, and passion. Since the very start in 2016, Heymat has focused on offering sustainable design products. All products are now produced in textile made from 100% recycled PET. The focus on sustainability is also key in the development of products for the professional market.

“We are as aware of form and function as of the environment. That is why the use of recycled materials in our products has been an important basis. We want the rugs to be seen as an inspiring, long-term, and sustainable investment, says Sonja Djønne, CEO of Heymat.

Heymat has become an important part of the Norwegian design industry

Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian established the company in 2015, with the goal of offering the home market decorative design mats of the same quality as an industrial mat. Thoralf’s solid knowledge about mats goes back three generations.

Combined with Sonja’s passion for interior and design, Heymat quickly established themselves as an important part of Norwegian homes and the design industry, with the global market at their feet. Heymat seeks to give every customer a high-quality product that they can cherish and enjoy for a long time. The mats are made of 100% recycled PET that is easily and efficiently maintained.

The designs are developed in collaboration with some of Scandinavia’s leading designers, whose timeless motifs also ensure visual longevity. Heymat launched its first collection in 2016, and today the mats are available in Europe, the U.S., and Asia. Valuing functionality, sustainability, and contemporary design, Heymat’s mission is to make rooms a pleasure to come home to.
