Set of intertwining glasses that unites form with functionality

Joe Colombo crafted 5-in-1 – a set of clear mouth-blown drinking glasses that neatly intertwine, presented at Milan Design Week 2022 by Karakter.

With his artistic background shining through every sculptural silhouette he fabricated even in the most functional homeware pieces, Italian industrial designer Joe Colombo crafted ‘5-in-1’ – a set of clear mouth-blown drinking glasses that neatly intertwine, presented at Milan Design Week 2022 by Karakter.

Way ahead of his time, Colombo relied on emerging material and latest technologies to innovatively create futuristic machines – many of which have become icons for a new way of living.

Featuring five minimalistic pieces originally intended as a water, cognac, grappa, white and red wine glass – each object with its Scandinavian feel has a different shape and purpose.

Skillfully using this diversity to his advantage, Colombo’s ingenious design ensures that these beautiful products can be seamlessly inserted into each other in order to form one extraordinary transparent sculpture.

Along with an aesthetic appeal, it’s highly practical – once stacked, the glasses effortlessly reduce storage space, making it an ideal piece for smaller kitchens.

“The 5-in-1 is the perfect homeware item for design lovers who also prioritize functionality. It’s a timeless object guaranteed to be enjoyed again and again” says founder and CEO of Karakter, Christian Bjerg Elving.

Founded on rebellious curiosity and a passion for the unique, Karakter is a bit out of the ordinary, brilliantly presenting a striking portfolio of – furniture, lighting and more from designers who have already written the history of design to those who are aspiring to write the future.
