The undulating design of this watch represents the “sands of time”

Hungarian designer Tamas Telekes gives his take on a futuristic timepiece.

The Line Watch concept features simple organic forms and parametric architecture, which gives the timepiece its distinct flowing forms.

Whilst imbuing the design with a sense of movement, these lines appear natural and soft. They play an important role in shaping the body of the watch, whilst helping give it a unique sense of character compared to traditional designs.

Telekes intended the design as a metaphor for the time elapsed in the creation of these forms in nature. Like undulating hills, their eb and flow are a physical manifestation of the “sands of time”.

By transforming the features of a conventional clock face, a regular yet modern ribbing that allows time to be read was achieved.

Meanwhile, a pastel colour palette reminiscent of nature in twilight offers a mild and elegant aesthetic.

A twist on the traditional watch

Whilst the watch features mostly traditional components, like a dial, a pair of hands and an injection-moulded strap, Line looks altogether new and innovative.

Because of the history and craftsmanship that charge these historial products, watches are a source of inspiration mongst designers who want to do the same, even in the midst of Apple cornering the market with its smartwatch.

Despite this, many designers still want a more traditional face like Telekes who has managed to combine expected elements with a fresh and futuristic aesthetic.
