For an Australian company, selling Mexican food in the US might seem like a quixotic endeavour. After all, if there’s one thing the US doesn’t lack, it’s a variety of food from south of the border. But Guzman Y Gomez, which boasts 180 sites across Australia, Singapore and Japan is ambitious. In January, it opened one of its restaurants in Schaumburg, Illinois, and, according to CEO Steven Marks, throwing open the doors led to a two-mile queue of cars waiting to sample some of the company
