The Australian Commonwealth Games Team will sport uniforms during opening and closing ceremonies designed by RM Williams in partnership with Commonwealth Games Australia.

The new capsule range of formal wear will include heritage designs and limited-edition leather boots, made in Melbourne. The nation’s signature gold and green palate are weaved into tailored sports coats, polos and apparel which also includes the Australian Commonwealth Games Team’s Birmingham 2022 logo.

A ‘Unity’ logo designed by the Indigenous artist Jenna Lee created as part of a series for the Gold Coast 2018 Reconciliation Action Plan by Brisbane-based agency Gilimbaa, will be incorporated into the designs of the polos, scarves, ties, and the lining of the vest.

Scott Faulder, head of product development at RM Williams, said it’s a great honour to dress the nation’s sporting stars for the opening and closing ceremonies.

“The kits blend a modern sensibility with classic Australian style, infused with the traditional green and gold colour palette, along with the Unity symbol designed by Jenna Lee. With the majority of this collection crafted on Australian soil, we’re taking a step forward in sustainable production and bringing manufacturing home.”

Craig Phillips AM, CEO of Commonwealth Games Australia, said: “We really feel that we have created a uniform that symbolises the collective sense of purpose of the Australian team through the use of the Unity design.

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 will take place between July 22 and August 8 this year.
