Australian fashion brand Aje has made its first “off-schedule appearance” at the New York Fashion Week.

At an immersive show at Roll & Hill in Manhattan, the brand featured curated pieces from its Spring Summer 23 ‘Lumen’ collection teaming up with NY-based creative agency Replica.

The brand says its ‘Lumen’ collection pays “homage to the perennial beauty and power of dawn, a symbol of hope and new beginnings”.

Mannequins dressed in key ‘Lumen’ looks were placed against organic stone structures complemented by Australian eucalyptus and protea plants, with accessories suspended midair.

The collection offers innovative craftsmanship with the use of unique cornelli embellishment, hand-appliqued pearl and organza floral motifs, hand-moulded gold pin, pearl stud detailing, contemporary corsetry and hand-painted prints on organza and silk linen.

Edwina Forest, co-founder and creative director of Aje, said: “The natural world and our rich local landscapes, in particular, have always been a grounding force, guiding and inspiring our design codes.

“Our luxury sensitivities and unique visual language as an Australian fashion house are key to the magic that makes us distinctive on a global stage.”

Aje was co-founded in 2008 by Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest with the aim of pioneering Australian style. It boasts an online presence in more than 221 countries, and sells through 80 international retailers, including 35 in the US.
