Amazon (Seattle) and Dollar General (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) are among the organizations leading the hiring surge the retail industry is currently experiencing, reports PYMNTS.

Dollar General announced today that it looks to hire 50,000 people by Labor Day to staff the more than 1000 new stores it’s adding this year. According to the retailer, which operates more than 17,400 doors, 75 percent of the U.S. population lives within five miles of one of its stores, offering up a plentiful pool of applicants.

Amazon also announced this week that it would hire 100,000 veterans and military spouses during the next three years. It employs 1.2 million workers currently, and has more than 35,000 job openings listed in the U.S.
