JCPenney Appoints New Execs to Fuel Digital Growth

Sharmeelee Bala and Katie Mullen join the department store retailer’s C-suite

JCPenney (Plano, Texas) announced the appointment of two new executives for its C-suite in order to support the retailer’s omnichannel and e-commerce investments, according to a company press release.

Sharmeelee Bala, formerly of Gap Inc. and Walmart, will become the retailer’s Chief Information Officer and will be responsible for overseeing IT supporting supply chains, stores, operational centers and corporate related functions. Katie Mullen, a former Neiman Marcus exec, will become the retailer’s Chief Digital and Transformation Officer, leading the growth of the department store’s e-commerce business, including jcp.com.

Marc Rosen, JCPenney’s Chief Executive Officer, says, “Sharmeelee and Katie will be invaluable partners as we move forward with our digital journey and transform the business through technology and innovation.”
