Winn-Dixie to Open First Standalone Liquor Store

Will offer 1,700 wines, 500 beers and a range of meats and cheeses

Winn-Dixie (Jacksonville, FL) will open its first standalone liquor store on Wednesday, The Florida-Times Union reports.

Called WDs, the Southeast grocery chain’s new concept will feature more than 1,700 wines, a “massive Beer Cave” with more than 500 varieties, 1,400-plus spirits, and a range of meats and cheeses.

In a release, Winn-Dixie’s parent company, Southeast Grocers, added: “WDs is designed to offer customers a unique interactive shopping experience that includes a wine tasting station offering a rotating selection of 10 wines on tap so customers can sip various vintages as they shop.”

The grand-opening event will include live music and assorted giveaways.
