Kroger (Cincinnati) and Instacart (San Francisco) are teaming up with the goal of delivering food and house staples in as little as 30 minutes, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Grocery delivery is an increasingly crowded marketplace, the article notes, though it has been difficult to reach consistent profitability on account of high labor and transportation costs.

Kroger has been down this road before, testing 30-minute delivery about two years ago, but it was unable to expand the service with only its staff. Enter Instacart.

“The consumer’s need for speed is real and here to stay,” Instacart CEO Fidji Simo told WSJ. To meet demand, Instacart says it will give priority to completing 30-minute deliveries before less urgent orders.
