Founder and CEO of JD.com (Guangzhou, China) Richard Liu will step away from daily operations of the retail chain while a new president assumes the role, according to CNBC.

Xun Lei, former CEO of JD Retail, will become president of the organization and will take over day-to-day administration of the business. Liu will remain chairman and CEO and will shift his focus to the e-commerce retailer’s long-term strategies, mentoring more junior members of the organization and “contributing to the revitalization of rural areas,” according to the company.

Liu has stayed out of the public eye since his 2018 arrest in the U.S. on allegations of rape, reports CNBC. He was not charged.
