An experimental exhibition to reveal the concealed side of linoleum

Flooring brand Tarkett and the designers at Studio RENS, through an enlightening experimental exhibition, unveil the lesser-known aspects of linoleum by introducing three innovative spatial applications of this widely recognized material

During Dutch Design Week 2023, in an exhibition titled “Lino Undercover,” Tarkett and Studio RENS unveiled their research findings, innovative applications, and promising product concepts. This experiment led to the presentation of rugs, murals, and textile applications, highlighting the potential they hold for the future.

Lino Undercover: linoleum from a different perspective

Linoleum, simultaneously traditional and entirely contemporary, boasts natural sustainability, ease of maintenance, and exceptional durability. Tarkett has upheld a 125-year legacy of producing this material, adhering to the original recipe. With a commitment to evolution and a quest for fresh applications, Tarkett embarked on a collaboration with Studio RENS.

The designers, known for their unconventional color and material experiments, along with their extensive research background, have propelled businesses and quality labels forward for over 15 years.

Stripping, slicing, dissecting, reversing, assembling, and adding colors – these are the starring actions in Lino Undercover, an exhibition that unveils three innovative applications. It’s still pure linoleum, but a departure from what we’re familiar with (only the natural fragrance remains).
