Myer to close Blacktown store as downsizing plan continues

Myer has announced the closure of its Blacktown store in Sydney’s outer west, a move that follows the reduction of footprints of five other stores across Australia. . As the troubled department store retailer tries to reight-size its portfolio in the wake of consumers moving online to shop, Myer said the Blacktown store closure was the fifth under its Customer First Plan launched in January 2019.

Supply chain confidence returning for retailers

Nearly half of retailers think they will see the end of widespread supply chain delays and disruption this year, with movement of goods returning to levels of normality seen before COVID and Brexit. Covid dulls first-half earnings for Harvey Norman

Electronics and furniture retailer Harvey Norman Holdings says Covid has impacted its profits in the first half. Total system sales were estimated at $4.91 billion with EBIT at $754.41 million. Net profit after tax reached $430.91 million, down 6.7 per cent on the prior corresponding period. The profits of the Australian franchising operations segment were estimated at $292.85 million for the half.
