Dan Murphy’s boss to head M&S Food

Dan Murphy’s MD, Alex Freudmann, is set to join Marks & Spencer (M&S) as MD of Food this November, following his resignation from Dan Murphy’s last month. Freudmann will sit on the executive committee and succeed Stuart Machin, who was appointed as CEO of M&S last month. Before taking on the new role on November 1, he will remain in his role at Dan Murphy’s while a replacement is found and a transition completed.

Retail Food Group reports slow but steady sales recovery

Retail Food Group (RFG), the listed multibrand food chain franchisor, says customer counts across its networks are up by an average of 10.1 per cent on year during the second half of this financial year. Adelaide plans $250m retail hub on city fringe

A $250 million development plan is set to transform a 3.6ha Adelaide plot into a modern food and retail-oriented mixed-use centre featuring apartments and a piazza-style market square. The project, dubbed ‘Locale’, will be built on the former site of furniture store Le Cornu which ended operations in 2016. The land was then sold to German hypermarket Kaufland which planned to build a flagship store there before cancelling plans to launch in Australia in 2020.
