JD Sports opens new flagship store in Gateshead’s Metrocentre

This Saturday saw JD Sports , Fashion plc, retailer of sports, fashion and outdoor brands, open the doors to its newest flagship store at Metrocentre Gateshead. The 18,000 sq. ft North-East flagship, which has tech and innovation at its heart and is home to over 50 iconic brands, has created an influx of new jobs for the community and provides local activewear advocates with their fix of all the biggest brands including Nike , adidas and The North Face.

Retail labour shortage worsening, finds ARA survey

A national poll by the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) has found the retail labour shortage has progressively deteriorated during the past three months. Of retailers polled, 84 per cent said it has become harder to recruit new team members while 73 per cent said job vacancy rates are worse than usual. The job market has also been hit with absenteeism with 55 per cent of respondents agreeing it has become worse.

Metcash boosts sales, profit despite supply-chain challenges

Supply chain disruptions and Covid-related lockdowns failed to dent grocery wholesaler Metcash’s performance during the latest financial year, with the company reporting “strong growth” in all divisions.
