Soaring customer footfall boosts Scentre Group’s performance

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently affirmed the dismissal of a putative class action lawsuit brought by a consumer who claimed that The Kroger Company supermarkets falsely advertised its spreadable fruit product containing fruit-based sweeteners as “Just Fruit.” The plaintiff claimed that Kroger marketed its spreadable fruit product as “Just Fruit” in order to capitalize on consumer demand for minimally processed foods that avoid unhealthy added sugars.

Lewis Land puts Adelaide outlet shopping centre on the market

Why department stores are thriving in Japan even as the US sector shrinks

For once, department stores are leading a retail sales recovery instead of lagging it. In Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) reports that retail sales in the first quarter amounted to 39,781 billion yen (about $434 billion at current exchange rates), up 6.5 per cent from a year ago. Momentum has been rising since the beginning of the year, with year-on-year sales growth in both February and March above 7 per cent.
