McDonald’s faces ‘mega’ $250 million backpay claim in Federal Court

After two years of investigations into alleged “exploitation and award contraventions” workers union SDA is seeking backpay and compensation for more than 250,000 current and former staff of McDonald’s it claims have been systematically denied 10-minute rest breaks. The SDA is seeking at least $250 million in compensation and penalties in what it describes as a “mega” claim lodged with the Federal Court against McDonald’s Australia and 323 franchisees. .

Aldi opens Dumpling Truck, serving meals for less than $1.50

German discount retailer Aldi is opening a “Dumpling Truck” pop-up, serving takeaway dinners a box of six Urban Eats dumplings for less than $1.50. From 5 pm to 7 pm tonight, (Friday), the Aldi Bankstown Central will turn into a takeaway shop, offering shoppers dumplings for $1.44 per serve – less than what some consumers pay for delivery. According to research commissioned by the retailer, almost half (46 per cent) of Aussies pay $15 to $20 on takeaway food per person per order.

Baby Bunting marks record sales, begins New Zealand foray

The baby goods retailer says sales grew 8.3 per cent to $507.3 million (with same-store sales up by 5 per cent) while statutory net profit attributable to shareholders rose 14.6 per cent to $19.5 million. Against results for two years earlier, the company says sales grew by 25.2 per cent.

Have you seen this installation? How amazing is this. This brands' store along Knightsbridge (obviously one of the most expensive parts of the city) has to be one of our favourites right now. Their Regents street site is very nice and while their Bond street store is under renovation this has to be up there with best of the best. There is a slight whiff of Selfridges Yellow here although we can overlook this as the installation is so wonderfully exciting.
