Premium gin brand, Cygnet, founded by the UK’s most successful classical singer Katherine Jenkins OBE and artist and social-impact filmmaker Andrew Levitas, are excited to announce that both Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin and Cygnet 22 will be available to purchase from selected Nationwide Waitrose and John Lewis stores this October.
As a company that recently launched in 2022, this step marks an incredibly exciting and pivotal moment as they aim to become the most poured gin in the UK. Cygnet will be sold across 24 Waitrose and 12 John Lewis stores joining the pre-existing presence at three Harvey Nichols stores, showcasing the brands continued growth and record success within its first year of launch. Paying homage to its name and remaining true to its Welsh heritage, Cygnet will also be sold in all key Waitrose and John Lewis stores in Wales.
To celebrate this exciting collaboration and Cygnet’s latest venture, Katherine Jenkins will be hosting a tasting and bottle signing from the iconic John Lewis Cardiff store in St David’s Shopping centre on the 28th October.
Cygnet has found popularity in hospitality establishments around the UK, confirming prestigious on-trade stockists including Isabel, Chiltern Firehouse, The Maine Mayfair and Searcy’s, with the latter featuring Cygnet 22 in a signature cocktail at the newly opened The Portrait Restaurant at the National Portrait Gallery.
Founders, Katherine and Andrew say: “Waitrose and John Lewis have always been key targets from the offset when we were building our brand, so this represents a culmination of a lot of hard work from ourselves and the team. As a Welsh-owned and born brand, we’re incredibly
proud to be stocked across key stores in Wales and also to be bringing a drop of Wales into homes nationwide!”
Katherine also adds, “John Lewis & Waitrose are 2 of the most trusted, loved & quintessential British brands. At Cygnet Gin we share the same ethos on quality, family & sustainability which is why I couldn’t be more thrilled that Cygnet is now available in store to their valued customers & look forward to ‘working together to make a happier world.”
Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin (RRP £35) was created in 2022 by the husband-and-wife duo with the intention of breaking the mould in a traditionally male-dominated spirits industry, taking inspiration from a Welsh spirit produced just six miles down the road from where Katherine grew up in Swansea. Katherine worked closely with the distillers on the creation of the gin to create a product which would rival the best-in-class gins available, with 12 carefully chosen botanicals used in the process.
In March 2023, the distillery launched the second iteration for the range, Cygnet 22 (RRP £47.50), a small-batch ultra-premium gin incorporating the use of Manuka honey into the production process, as well as bee pollen, lemon balm, rose petals and white peppercorns. Cygnet’s unique flavour comes from a sixth-generation Welsh distillation team led by master distiller Aster Sadler, who combines traditional methods in a 300 litre Arnold Holstein copper pot to produce the smoothest and purest gin on the market.
