Investment fund takes half share in Brisbane’s Grand Plaza Shopping Centre

A 50-per-cent share of Brisbane’s Grand Plaza Shopping Centre has been acquired by EG Australian Core Enhanced Funds for an undisclosed amount. Simon Rooney, head of retail capital markets – Pacific at CBRE, who brokered the sale on behalf of US fund Invesco, said the deal highlights strong ongoing demand for Queensland retail investments, with over $4.5 billion in sales occurring since the beginning of last year.

KMD Brands profit dives through first half

Outdoor apparel retailer KMD Brands, formerly known as Kathmandu Holdings, has registered that its Australasian store network suffered significantly in the first half. Group sales for the half were recorded at $379.95 million (NZ$407.3 million) while underlying EBITDA was estimated at $9.52 million. The business’ net profit after tax fell 124.7 per cent, a loss of $5.13 million.

DHL Express announces roll-out of 270 new electric vans for its last-mile fleet

DHL Express has announced the roll-out of 270 new electric vans, which will become part of its last-mile fleet. The company has committed to having a 100% electric UK-wide courier fleet by 2030. It follows the introduction last year of 50 electric vans. The 270 new vans will go live between May and September, operating out of more than 30 different locations, including London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton Liverpool, Sheffield, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

DPD and HubBox launch new delivery offer

DPD has partnered with HubBox to allow retailers to offer the option of delivery straight to a customer’s nearest DPD Pickup shop at checkout. A survey of more than 1,000 UK shoppers by Retail Insight, showed over half of consumers (56%) felt out-of-stocks are now worse in-store compared to when consumers panic bought at the start of the pandemic. A further 46% said stock availability online was now lower than during the same period of panic buying.
