Amazon (Seattle) will open two new Whole Foods stores featuring its cashierless technology for the first time, reports Bloomberg. Self-checkout lanes will still be available for shoppers to pay with cash, gift cards and other payment types.

The stores, one in Washington D.C. and the second in Sherman Oaks, Calif., will stock the typical Whole Foods merchandise. Amazon says it will hire the same number of workers as it normally would to staff a new store, though their roles will be different.

Amazon opened its first cashierless store, an Amazon Go in Seattle, in 2018. It purchased Whole Foods Market’s 500-plus grocery stores in 2017.
