Walmart to Hire 150,000 Store Workers

The permanent, full-time positions are being created to offset a labor shortage

Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) will hire approximately 150,000 new store workers in the U.S. in preparation for the coming holiday season, reports Reuters. Most of the positions will be permanent and full-time.

Existing store workers will also be offered extra hours during the holiday season. Retailers have been responding to the current labor shortage with incentives like pay raises and bonuses for employees. Walmart has raised wages trhee times this year, bringing its U.S. average hourly wage to $16.40 per hour.
