In 2017, I shared my curly hair routine, but my routine has changed completely since then. The biggest change is that I’ve now transitioned into using more sustainable, eco friendly curly hair products.

If you have curly hair you know how hard it is to find products that actually work for your curls. It’s even harder to find sustainable products!

Here are the eco-friendly curly hair products I use in my sustainable hair routine

Eco friendly curly hair products

1. Shampoo Bar

Shampoo bars are a great sustainable swap and really easy to use on curls. I’m obsessed with Humby Organics Mango Breeze Shampoo Bar. The product smells amazing and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling stripped of natural oils. I also love that this product is vegan, SLS-free, and palm-oil-free.

How I use the product: When using this product, I focus solely on my scalp. I rub the bar in small circular motions on my head and use my fingers to work it into my scalp. Then I rinse & repeat.

2. Conditioner Bar

I was gifted the Humby Organics Conditioner Bar (and shampoo bar) years ago, but I’ve bought it so many times since because it’s so good. I love this conditioner bar because it smells amazing (like the shampoo bar) and it provides so much slip!

How I use the product: For this product, I divide my hair into 4-5 sections, then apply the product to my actual hair shaft. When my hair is fully coated, I then go in and finger detangle. I do not rinse this product out, because I find it works best as a leave-in conditioner.

3. Styling Cream

Strengthening Curl Cream for High Porosity Curls is a great sustainable option because it comes in an aluminum can, the ingredients are sustainably sourced, and they offer refill options. I like this product because it leaves my hair feeling soft & moisturized.

How I use the product: After I finish shampooing and conditioning, I then apply this cream to my soaking wet hair. I divide my hair into 4-5 sections to make things less overwhelming.

4. Styling Gel

I like to go in with the Consciously Curly Co. Strong Hold Botanical Gel after applying my cream because it helps give my hair much-needed definition. When this eco friendly curly hair gel dries, it doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy. Instead, my curls are left feeling light, bouncy, and super defined.

How I use the product: I divide my hair into 4-5 sections, then apply this on top of the cream. Then wait for my hair to air dry (or I’ll use a 100% cotton t-shirt to dry my hair).

5. Results

Here are my final results! My curls are defined, bouncy, and voluminous. I’m super happy that I’ve found sustainable products that work for my hair.
