Kmart, Betty’s Burgers among NRA National Retail Awards winners

The National Retailers Association (NRA) has recognised some of Australia’s top retailers at its National Retail Awards on the Gold Coast.

“Our industry plays a huge role in Australia’s economy, employment and social structure, and the NRA is dedicated to connecting retailers for the success of the industry now and into the future,” said Lindsay Carroll, interim CEO.

This year’s winners are:

  • Large Retailer of the Year – Kmart.
  • Sustainability Champion of the Year – Vinnies Victoria.
  • Hospitality Gamechanger of the Year – Betty’s Burgers.
  • Emerging Retailer of the Year – MedCart Australia.
  • People and Culture Champion of the Year – Amart Furniture.
  • Store Manager of the Year – Andrew Jarman, Surf Dive n Ski.
  • Innovation Champion of the Year – Miss Amara.
  • HR Professional of the Year – Emily Van Wessem, Mad Mex.
  • Medium Retailers of the Year – Personalised Favours.
  • Small Retailer of the Year – Zea.
  • Online Retailer of the Year – Lyres Spirit Co.
  • Young Retailer of the Year – Stephen Poole, AG Lego Certified Stores.

Carroll added the awards reflect the “broader contributions of the retail sector” which carried the country through the pandemic.

“Off the back of a challenging two-year period, it has never been more important to recognise and celebrate the resilience of front-line services and various levels of innovation and evolution.”

This year’s awards also marked 50 years of the Young Retailer of the Year Award, this year earned by Stephen Poole from AG Lego Certified Stores. He will travel to Barcelona to the World Retail Congress.
