Lifestyle, leisure drive record year for Super Retail

Unprecedented demand in lifestyle and leisure gifted Super Retail Group record sales and earnings in FY21, with net profit doubling during the year to $306.8 million. Despite continued lockdowns across Australia, Super Retail saw total group sales jump 22 per cent to $3.45 billion during the year, with like-for-like sales growth of 23 per cent and online sales up 43 per cent.

Domino’s seeks to grow its slice of QSR following bumper year

Pizza maker Domino’s has seen global sales grow 14.6 per cent to $3.7 billion off the back of social restrictions in many of its markets, which led to increased delivery volumes. The business’ full-year EBIT hit $293 million, a 27.2 per cent spike on last year, with online sales growing 21.5 per cent to $2.93 billion throughout the year. In the group’s ANZ business, improved margins grew local EBIT 14.1 per cent to $116.8 million.

Grocery sales fall as more shoppers return but basket size shrinks, says Kantar

Grocery sales fell by 4% during the latest 12-week period and also dipped in the most recent month, according to new figures from Kantar. The decline was just 0.5% in the four weeks to 8 August when consumers made an extra 108,000 shopping trips but the average basket size was 10% smaller as pre-pandemic buying. Coles pockets $1 billion profit as Smarter Selling pays off

Retail Sales Saw July Decline

Retail sales reportedly declined 1.1 percent in July, which was worse than the anticipated decline of 0.3 percent, reports CNBC. Book stores, Musical instrument and sporting goods stores had a sales decrease of 1.9 percent, and clothing took a 2.6 percent dip. Car and motor vehicle parts dealers’ sales fell 3.9 percent. Online sales also had a decline of 3.1 percent.
