Publix Expands to Kentucky

The first supermarket, with adjacent liquor store, will open in 2023

Grocery chain Public (Lakeland, Fla.) will open its first supermarket in Louisville, Ky., according to Supermarket News. The 55,702-square-foot store will have a Publix Liquors outlet next door.

“Being company owners, Publix associates are committed to providing the highest level of service and quality products to exceed our customers’ expectations,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a statement. Moving into Kentucky is a natural progression for our company, and we are excited to serve and be a part of this vibrant community.”

The store is expected to open fourth quarter of 2023, pending permitting and construction. The chain reportedly plans to open additional stores in Kentucky in the future.
